Movement

Movement (Arrest) is a series of handwoven works capturing the confrontation between individuals and authority at the moment of arrest. Drawing from news imagery of environmental protests, the work highlights ordinary citizens advocating for climate justice and nature conservation.

As peaceful protesters face escalating arrests and harsh sentences, the series examines the clash between urgent social movements and political resistance. The title, Movement (Arrest), refers both to the act of arrest and broader efforts to suppress growing citizen movements.

Woven on a TC2 Jacquard loom, these works merge photography and weaving, reimagining documentary imagery through textile. Created over several weeks in Finland, the artist wove them using flax, recycled lurex, and cotton warp threads on the largest TC2 loom.
